There was heartbreak for Maynooth in Limerick's Gaelic Grounds on Sunday (24 January) as a late Spa goal denied the Crom Abu a place in the All-Ireland club championship final.
ALL-IRELAND IFC CLUB SEMI-FINAL
SPA (KERRY) 2-11
MAYNOOTH 2-9
Two goals from Karl Ennis, one in either half, set Maynooth up with a three point lead 13 minutes from the finish and when the Kildare star pointed for the third time in the 54th minute, there was still two points between the sides. Spa refused to give up and with three minutes remaining, Conor Gleeson raced through to net his second goal, putting the Kerry champions in front by one, and on the road to a victory that was sealed by a Mike O'Donoghue point in the final minute. Spa will meet Tyrone and Ulster champions, Crookstown, in the Croke Park final on 14 February.
