Maynooth Céilí Dance team reached the Scór Na nÓg All-Ireland Final of their competition in 2006. Having beaten off stiff competition at the Leinster Final from stong Westmeath and Offaly opposition, the All-Ireland Final itself was a very different affair.
The best of Conaught, Ulster and Munster were pitted against girls from the Maynooth football and camogie teams. On the day the girls performed to the best of their abilities with a flawless display of dancing. However, the judges had a very hard decision to make and opted to give the prize to the Kerry team, Glenflesk, home club of then GAA President Sean Kelly. So near and yet so far.
Below is the Maynooth Céilí Dance team which reached the 2006 Scór Na nÓg All-Ireland Final whose members included a County camogie player, a club football coach and players from the football and camogie codes within the Club.
